Our EV Charger Installation Process

  1. Review your vehicle and charger requirements.
  2. Assess your electrical panel and available capacity.
  3. Explain the options and provide an installation estimate.
  4. Install, connect and test the charging equipment.
  5. Coordinate the applicable ESA inspection.

Not every home requires a service upgrade. Where the existing service has limited capacity, we will discuss practical options such as a lower-output charger, load-management equipment, a subpanel or a service upgrade.

EV Charger Installation FAQs

Do I need a 200A electrical service for an EV charger?

Not necessarily. The correct answer depends on the calculated load, charger output and existing electrical equipment. CLI Electric will assess the system before recommending an upgrade.

Can you install a charger outdoors?

Yes. The charger and installation method must be suitable for the location and environmental conditions.

Do I supply the EV charger?

Customers may supply a compatible charger, or we can discuss suitable equipment for the vehicle and installation requirements.

How long does installation take?

Installation time depends on panel capacity, wiring distance, access and whether additional electrical work is required. We will explain the anticipated scope before work begins.

Is an ESA inspection required?

We will determine the applicable notification and inspection requirements for the installation and include them in the proposed scope.
